Astoria Report

I spotted a new awning on 31st Street yesterday, right at the end of the N/W.

Yup, pretty soon there's going to be a fabric store at my subway stop--right at the base of the stairs, in fact. Too bad that my sewing machine can't say the same thing...

Don't ask me about this Queens fixation on combining a fabric store with a variety store. I didn't realize that many people said to themselves "Hmm, I need milk, a newspaper, and a couple of yards of poplin." Apparently, however, people do.

Heh! That's pretty funny.

That's like the "General Store" in the olden days. (I only know this from movies :))

Is that anything like Joe's Small Engine Repair and Ice Cream Shop? I don't remember where we were that we saw it! But it was east coast...

I dunno, Ben Franklin is a variety store, so there may not be much in the way of edibles there...

Aw, she is a cutie! ; ) And I definitely see a family resemblance. Love the dress!

If you do decide on a dress like that, be sure to wear the ankle socks and mary janes. But I gotta warn ya--it's hard to compete with a wee one that cute!

Oh my! That is one cute girl! And the dress! The dress! *sigh* I'd love to make one - although it would look funny on my boys!

Great photos!

The dress is cute. The neice is cuter. She certainly is a happy little girl! Maybe it's 'cause she has cute clothes!

She is so adorable! I love the dress!

And I can't wait for the button store to open on Queens Blvd. You should see the walls covered...with buttons!!! right in my neighborhood....whoppee

Oooh, it looks like I'm going to have to "miss" my stop once in a while :)
