Sock Spectacular

I spent this past weekend visiting with my niece, and knitting my second sock:

The sock was easier to photograph than the niece. Kate was surrounded by doting relatives all weekend long, and I caught only fleeting glipses of her as she was passed from grandparent to grandparent to great-grandparent. There should have been a waiting list for that rocking chair. It was a busy weekend for Miss K, let me tell you.

While I was watching Kate from afar, I had my hands free to knit and knit and knit some more. I finished the sock, and still had yarn left over. I bet that Lucy's skeins have enough yarn to knit proper kneehighs. Next time, perhaps I'll give them a try.

I also had time to watch some cable television this weekend. I'm left with two questions. Who gave Hulk Hogan a reality TV show? Why was I unable to stop watching it until someone else changed the channel?

Oh... too funny. I am completely there with the hogan-thing! I watch very little "reality tv" (i have enough reality, thankyouverymuch), but some of those MTV/VH1 shows just suck you in. If you think the hogan thing is bad, just wait until one day you look up and realize you have been knitting and watching "my super sweet 16" for 3 hours straight. Umm... yeah, i did that Friday.

Hey Colleen - great socks! I definitely have to get me some of Lucy's yarn. And congrats on that Morehouse beret - I hope you think it was worth all the effort because it looks like a perfect customn-fit on you.

I know what you mean about the whole crap TV phenomenon - last year in Providence we only had five channels, two of which were DIFFERENT WBs, and I am ashamed to say I watched more than my fair share of Dance Party 360 and Extreme Makeover while knitting in the kitchen. It was a long winter last year... ~gabriella

Great sock!!!

I am giggling at your not being able to stop watching it till someone changed the channel....morbid curiosity maybe of just that you were in plain shock LOL

wow, yes, i do believe that there's enough yarn there for proper knee highs! those would be cute :)

I've watched weird stuff too, I think it's because it's just so bad that you can't believe it is actually on television and you keep watching with the vain hope that it will flash a just kidding screen and switch to something that resembles intelligence.

Don't feel bad, I am hooked on watching "Family Jewels" with Gene Simmons from KISS. Talk about mindless! Sometimes, mindless is good though...just like knitting, we can't make lace all the time.

Oh if I could have been there that Hulk Hogan show would have been toast from the get go.

Believe it or not Mr. T has also been given his own reality TV show also, on Nick at Nite I believe. That one draws me in but when I've seen it it's been pretty late for me. It's a good it's on during prime time, that could be dangerous...

Lucy's yarn as in the Lucy who has the shop over near Porter Square? I am making some socks with her yarn and was wondering if I was going to have enough for sock #2 - you have given me hope! (And I do love her yarn, it is so soft and shimmery!!
