Stash Storage

[First of a two-part series detailing how Colleen gets control of her knitting supplies.]

It's safe to say my knitting supplies are slowly taking over the condo.   I'm tired of seeing evidence of my knitting everywhere.   This is not a problem unique to this knitter, I'm sure.  Cara (who recently tagged me for the what-kinds-of music-do-you-listen-to questionnaire) reclaimed her own house not too long ago.  I don't pretend to have all the answers to stash and supply storage, but I'm determined to create a solution that will work for me.

First, let's assess the current conditions.

Needle and supply drawer:

Yarn cabinet:

Table near my knitting chair:

There are other yarn locations, but I won't scare you with the pictures :-).  It's not that I lack space to store what I have, it's that what I have is not stored very well.  Stumped for a solution on how to do this, I'm heading to The Container Store.  Maybe I'll find what I need there.

Results will be announced on Sunday.  Stay tuned....

Be careful at the container store - I bought two different sets of "solutions" and neither one worked for me. (Who knew that the underbed containers would not actually fit under my bed?) I ended up with bins from Target. I like your drawer idea. I have a chest of drawers in my bedroom that my husband co-opted - wonder if there's an empty one for me.

Oh and by the way, the yarn is put away but now the knit books are taking over. And since my entire house is lined with FULL bookcases, I don't know where I'm going to store them. The floor does not seem to be a working solution though! ;-)

Good luck. It's looking good!

You are too tidy! And, I am too envious. I have a third of the basement full of fibery stuff in no particular order whatsoever. I manage to keep the projects in bags by my chair...but that's as far as I go. Maybe I just need to get rid of stuff, eh? Great socks! Love the color - um...I'm looking for the colorway and manufacturer. Can't find it - please tell?

I absolutely love the green on your wall.

I love the Container Store! It's a good thing we don't have an actual store near me (I have to order stuff from them online) - otherwise all non-knitting-funds would be directed toward the Container Store.

I love the container store too...and had blissfully forgotten it opened in Boston and NOW, well, now I'm going to have to go and spend money on knitting containers.

dammit.
